NARAL Nevada Calls on Kihuen to Drop Out of Vegas City Council Race

After former Congressman Ruben Kihuen, who was sanctioned last year by the House Ethics Committee over sexual harassment allegations, announced his run for Las Vegas City Council yesterday, NARAL Nevada State Director, Caroline Mello Roberson released the following statement:

“Every Nevadan deserves a workplace free of harassment and to be treated with respect and dignity as equal members of our society. We expect our elected representatives to hold themselves to the highest standard of ethical conduct. Kihuen’s announcement that he is running for City Council after a proven record of sexually harassing multiple women demonstrates his complete lack of regard for the health and safety of the women of Nevada.

“Nevada voters have proven that we are moving our state forward and we will not tolerate or turn a blind eye to elected officials—or anyone—who chooses to harass, disrespect, and otherwise create a hostile work environment for women. We call on former Rep. Kihuen to immediately renounce his candidacy for City Council and do the right thing for Nevadans.”
