NARAL Nevada Calls out GOP’s Hypocrisy over CHIP

Allegedly “Pro-Life” Party and Senator Heller Prioritize Tax Payouts For the Wealthy Over Sick Children

As Republicans such as Senator Heller continue to drag his feet on reauthorizing the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), NARAL Executive Director Caroline Mello Roberson released the following statement:

“The fact that the anti-choice GOP and Senator Heller chose to focus on massive tax breaks for corporations instead of ensuring children in need could access healthcare speaks volumes about their priorities. If members of the anti-choice GOP truly wanted to improve the lives of all people, they would prioritize making healthcare accessible and affordable for pregnant women and low-income children. For a party that pretends to call itself ‘pro-life,’ their hypocrisy is astounding.

“The GOP’s failure to act has put Nevada women, children, and families in an unconscionable state of uncertainty,  jeopardizing their access to lifesaving healthcare. As long as the anti-choice GOP threatens the essential healthcare children, women, and families need to survive and thrive, NARAL Nevada will keep organizing and mobilizing to hold them and Senator Heller accountable.”
