NARAL Nevada Statement on the Trump Administration’s Decision to Rescind DACA
(Las Vegas, NV) — Following the Trump Administration’s decision to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program today, Caroline Mello Roberson, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Nevada, issued the following statement:
“No child should fear being ripped away from their families and the only home they’ve ever known. The decision by the Trump administration to end DACA follows years of support for such dangerous policies by Sen. Heller and threatens the 13,000 DREAMers in Nevada and the communities they call home. This backwards immigration policy will not only hurt our economy and force more of our friends and neighbors to live in the shadows, but it only further impedes an entire community’s access to basic healthcare. Every person deserves the right to make their own reproductive health decisions, regardless of immigration status. NARAL Pro-Choice Nevada is committed to working together with activists and community members across the state to #DefendDACA and the rights of all families in the Silver State.”
NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.
