NARAL Denounces Heller’s Decision to “Come Back to the Table” on Health Care Bill, Invites Him to Spend Recess Hearing from NV Women
(Las Vegas, NV) — After waffling back and forth on just how many Nevadans deserved to lose their healthcare, Sen. Dean Heller is now rumored to be “back at the table” and “willing to discuss concerns.” Heller’s reversal occurred shortly after a meeting with President Trump, and was followed by the announcement that Trump’s PAC would pull their paid attack ads against Heller that were running across Nevada.
“Sen.Heller’s eagerness to take away healthcare for Nevada’s women and families is deeply troubling and entirely cynical,” said Caroline Mello Roberson, state director of NARAL Pro-Choice Nevada. “Instead of playing politics with the lives of women and our families, Sen. Heller should take this time to hear from families about how his decisions impact our ability to prevent unintended pregnancies and raise healthy families. We invite him to spend next week hearing from Nevada women who wake up everyday fearing their healthcare will be taken away. Their voices deserve to be heard.”
Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has announced that the vote on the health care bill will take place after the upcoming July 4th recess.
