NARAL Launches Five-Figure Ad Buy to Urge Passage of Birth Control Bill

Ad Campaign Calls on Gov. Sandoval to Sign the Bill on Behalf of Nevada Families, Follows Passage Out Of Senate Health Committee and State Assembly

NARAL Pro-Choice Nevada announced a digital ad campaign to promote a plan to protect and expand access to birth control across the state. NARAL’s five-figure ad buy includes web video ads, sponsored content on Facebook, and ads that will appear in online searches. The ads are a part of NARAL’s ongoing effort to mobilize pro-choice Nevadans to support AB 249, a bill that will expand access to contraception and allow women to access up to 12 months of birth control at a time. The ads will run across the state for the next two weeks.

The online ads support NARAL-backed legislation which would ensure contraception remains affordable by codifying the “no co-pay” requirement of the Affordable Care Act into Nevada law. The bill recently passed the State Assembly and just last week passed out of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. The proposal also expands access by allowing for up to 12 months of contraception to be dispensed at once. In addition to the ad buys, NARAL has hosted a series of “Feminist Road Trips” which brought Nevadans from across the state to Carson City to advocate for the passage of this important legislation.

One of the leading proponents of the bill, NARAL’s Caroline Mello Roberson, recently wrote about her experience as a pregnant woman leading the fight for reproductive freedom in Nevada.
